We will be hosting a special guest at our regular meeting this Wed, April 1st at 6:00. Lawyer Jim Freeman will be giving a talk on messengers and the law. He will be covering workers compensation, what to do if you are involved in an accident, traffic laws, and how the Chicago Messenger Ordinance affects us. Lawyer Jim has been a good friend of the messenger community for years. He is currently representing members of the CCU in multiple cases. I have been a messenger for over 5 years, and I learned a couple of things that surprised me just in a short conversation with Jim while we were setting this up. Make sure you don't miss this one.

What is the Chicago Messenger Ordinance? Is that the one where the messenger is required to wear a helmet and have a brake where the average joe-commuter doesn't have to?
Yeah, it is the one where messengers are required to wear a helmet, a reflective vest, and have their courier number clearly visible.
